5 Things to Check Before Buying a Used Phone

Buying second-hand can save you hundreds of dirhams — if you know what to look for. Here are five checks worth doing before you pay.

  1. Battery health. Ask for the battery health percentage. Anything below 80% means you'll likely need a replacement soon.
  2. IMEI check. Confirm the IMEI is clean and not blacklisted or reported lost/stolen.
  3. Screen & body. Look closely under bright light for hairline cracks, screen burn-in, or a body that's been reshelled.
  4. All ports and sensors. Test the charging port, speakers, microphone, Face ID/fingerprint sensor, and cameras before you commit.
  5. Warranty & return window. A seller confident in their inspection process will offer at least a short return window and a few months of warranty.

A reputable seller will hand you a full inspection report up front — if they can't, that's a red flag worth walking away from.
